The real cost of AI (German whitepaper)

Law firms that use specialized artificial intelligence (AI) systems in their client work often still operate on a fixed-price basis: a monthly license per user, a predictable amount, and a manageable budget. This model is familiar; it corresponds to what law firms are used to with traditional software in their day-to-day operations. It’s similar to what law firms are familiar with from traditional software used in day-to-day practice. However, it does not reflect the logic behind a rapidly advancing market trend: that of token-based AI systems. So-called consumption-based or token/credit billing models have been the talk of the town ever since Claude “Fable,” if not before.
